LIVERPOOL ENGLAND - AN 8-YEAR-OLD BOY WAS ATTACKED BY A LARGE PIT BULL TYPE DOG AS HE WAS WALKING NEAR A BUS STOP WITH HIS MUM
A young boy has been mauled by a dog which 'ragged him like a doll' while he was near a bus stop with his mum.
The unnamed eight-year-old boy was bitten on the arm as he walked past the stop on South Road, near to Waterloo station in Liverpool. After lunging at the lad and clamping its jaws on the boy's arm, his mum hit the dog repeatedly in an effort to get the beast off.
Police said a 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control. A member of the public called the police at around noon. When officers arrived at the bus stop they found the dog tied to a seat beside its owner.
A woman on Facebook claiming to be the boy's mum said he had been 'ragged like a rag doll' and had his arm 'ripped to bits.'
The woman added: "Hi all thanks for ur kind words my son was just walking past the bus stop wen dog jumped out an ragged him like a doll."
A worker in a shop on South Road said he had “heard screaming”, and that police and paramedics arrived soon after.
Another woman said: “I was on my break when it happened, but I saw the police here afterwards. There was loads of police.
“Someone came in and said a boy had been bitten and the police had taken the dog away. There were paramedics here too.”
The dog responsible for the bite was seized by dog patrol officers and taken to secure kennels.
It is believed to be a MASTIFF OR AMERICAN BULLDOG and not a banned breed.
