ATHENS TX - A FAMILY PIT BULL MIX ATTACKED THEIR 11-YEAR-OLD BOY

An 11-year-old boy was transported to a Dallas hospital after he was injured by a dog bite on Wednesday.
Athens Police Department reports said the dog that bit the boy was  a family pet  at his residence on Tillison Street.
The child was taken to Children's Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The dog was described as a white, PIT BULL MIX, which is current on all of its vaccinations.
APD received a call at about 5:30 p.m. from a nurse at the East Texas Medical Center, in the 2000 block of South Palestine Street in Athens, reporting the boy had been brought in for treatment of injuries.
Cpl. Dana Dykes and Officer Taylor Rice responded to the hospital to take a report. Photos of the injuries were also taken.
According to APD, the child was still in the hospital on Thursday, and they had not been able to interview the boy or the family as to what might have caused to dog to bite the victim.
