UPDATE - Two people were arrested in Palm Desert on Friday after a five-year-old girl was bitten by her family's dog.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, police in Palm Desert responded to The Westin Desert Willow Villas around 6 a.m. Friday. Inside, they found the girl suffering from non-life-threatening dog bites and took her to a hospital.
Investigators believe the two adults present, a man and woman from Desert Hot Springs, left the girl alone in the room with the dog. Both were arrested on suspicion of felony child endangerment and booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
Police have not released information about what happened to the dog.
The sheriff's department requests that anyone with relevant information contact Investigator Isaacs at the Palm Desert sheriff’s station at (760) 836-1600.
A 5-year old girl is in the hospital after being bitten by a dog at a Valley resort on Friday.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, at 6am Friday morning, they got a call of a vicious dog on Willow Ridge in Desert Willow in Palm Desert.
When deputies arrived they found a 5-year old girl who had been bitten by a dog. The toddler was transported to a local hospital and transferred to Loma Linda Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
"Currently a man and woman are being detained, and the incident is still under investigation" says Deputy Armando Munoz, of the Riverside County Sheriff Department.
Riverside Animal Control was also called to the scene and have taken possession of the dog.
