STRATFORD CT - A PIT BULL AND A ROTTWEILER "SOMEHOW" ESCAPED THEIR YARD AND THE ROTTWEILER ATTACKED A 22-MONTH-OLD CHILD - THE CHILD'S MOTHER INTERVENED AND WAS ALSO ATTACKED BY THE DOGS

A mother and her 22-month-old child were hospitalized with injuries sustained while being attacked by dogs that had escaped from a yard on Reut Drive, according to Stratford Police.
Stratford Police and Animal Control Officers are investigating the incident in which the mother and child were attacked on Quenby Place.
The dogs, one Rottweiler and one Pit Bull, escaped from a yard in the 200 block of Reut Drive, according to Captain Frank Eannotti.
During the incident, the Rottweiler attacked the 22-month-old child, according to Eannotti. The mother intervened and was attacked by the dogs.

A witness assisted the mother and used a shovel to help stop the dog’s attack, according to Eannotti.
The mother and child were taken to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Eannotti said the dogs were taken and quarantined.
