MERIDIAN ID - A PIT BULL THAT COULD NOT BE CONTROLLED BY IT'S 31-YEAR-OLD FEMALE OWNER ATTACKED A BASSET HOUND BEING WALKED BY ITS OWNER - WHEN ALL ATTEMPTS FAILED TO STOP THE ATTACK THE BASSET OWNER PULLED OUT HIS GUN AND FIRED ONE SHOT KILLING THE PIT AND ACCIDENTALLY SHOT THE NUTTER!!!

A woman is in the hospital and a dog is dead after a shooting in Meridian.
Meridian Police were called to the area of North Meridian Road and West Chrisfield Drive at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday. They say they found a dead pit bull, which had been shot one time, and a 31-year-old woman, the dog's owner, also with a gunshot wound.
Police say a man was walking his Basset Hound when the PIT BULL broke free from its owner and charged at the man and his dog.
The dogs' owners tried to separate the animals, and when the pit bull advanced on the hound again, the hound's owner drew his gun and fired one shot, which killed the pit bull, passed through the dog, and struck the pit bull's owner in the abdomen.
The woman was taken to the hospital with an injury that is not considered life-threatening.
Meridian Police are still investigating, and have not made any arrests or pressed any charges.

Is it bad that I laughed when I read this??! Though I'm sorry the basset had to suffer the attack, with one shot the pit was dispatched and the idiot owner got a life lesson, though I doubt she will actually learn anything constructive from it...

Dayna, It's not bad that you laughed. I didn't laugh at the story, but I laughed at your comment.

I'm glad the pit bull is dead, and I'm also glad that the nutter got a taste of the action. Far too often, the bringers of the maulers get to leave mauling scenes without any injuries themselves.

I laughed, too. I feel bad for the Basset's owner. He's going to get into all sorts of trouble when he was just defending himself and his dog.
