SHEFFIELD ENGLAND - A WOMAN APPROACHED A STRAY SHAR PEI TO SEE IF IT HAD A COLLAR AND IT ATTACKED HER IN THE FACE

A woman has needed around 40 stitches after being bitten by a dog in Sheffield.
The 31-year-old victim was walking near the fish ponds in Richmond Road, Sheffield, when she was attacked on Saturday at around 10pm.
She saw what is believed to be a stray brown  SHAR PEI  dog - a Chinese breed that has wrinkled skin - and approached it to see whether it had a collar.
The dog then bit the woman's face and her hand as she tried to push the animal away. She has been left with serious scarring.
South Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information in relation to the incident to come forward.
Call 101 quoting log 274 of October 3 with information.

Shar Peis are mean are are quick to temper. I knew one growing up. My little sister was bitten in the face by it when she was playing nearby.

Decatur AL livin nt to 4 pits said...

There were 3 Shar Peis that lived directly behind us when we moved here 21 years ago. A doctor and his wife lived there and there was a doggie door in the front door with no fence around the front yard we were told. The dogs were monsters and roamed free all the time. They chased us into our house and one Saturday all 3 came up to our large den picture window and thrashed, scratched and barked trying to come inside on our grandchildren. I witnessed one get run over by a van after it had been out all night roaming. I was told another bit the doctor in the face. I don't know what happened to the third. As soon as they were all gone....the 4 pits moved in next door!
