CHESTER, CHESTERFIELD COUNTY VA - 2 ROTTWEILERS INVADED A YARD AND FATALLY MAULED A BELOVED PONY "PATCHES" THAT HAD BEEN WITH ITS FAMILY FOR OVER 30 YEARS

Police and Animal Control units are investigating after a miniature pony died following an attack by  TWO ROTTWEILER DOGS  on Wednesday, November 30.
The resident Cathie Richardson lives in the 3800 block of Baldwin Road in Chester. Chesterfield Police and Animal Control responded to the scene in the afternoon.  One of the Rottweiler dogs was shot by a responding Chesterfield officer.
The pony, named Patches, had been with the family for more than three decades, Richardson's family said, and they are very distraught.
Michael Richardson said he was in his home when he heard dogs barking. He said he looked outside and witnessed the dogs attack the pony's face.
When officers responded, Richardson said he watched them shoot one of the dogs but also said the animal continued running around afterward.
Now he said he wants answers, and justice, after the death of a beloved family pet.
Investigators say charges are pending in the death of Patches.
