A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the identity of the owner of three dogs that mortally wounded an Onondaga-area family's pet pot-bellied pig named Penelope.

"Somebody knows who owns those dogs. I want to know who it is," Henry Van de Kuyt said in an interview on Thursday.
Van de Kuyt said he was away from home on an errand Tuesday, when his two 19-year-old sons, Gary and Tyler, heard Penelope squeal from her backyard enclosure at about 10 a.m.
Gary ran outside with Tyler close behind. They saw THREE PIT BULLS OR BOXERS -  they aren't certain of the breed - with their jaws locked on Penelope's neck.
Gary grabbed a piece of lumber to swing at the dogs -- one black, two brown, trying to get them to give up their grip.
The black dog first ran off, followed by the other two.
But it was too late for Penelope. A veterinarian examined the 100-pound pig and said there was no hope.
"She said the pig was too badly wounded and had to be euthanized," Van de Kuyt said.
He had to give the grim news to his 15-year-old daughter, Rebecca.
"She was horrified," he said. "That pig used to follow her and everybody in the family around the yard."
The family called Brant County OPP and Brant bylaw enforcement officer.
OPP Const. Ken Johnston said that the matter is being investigated by the municipality.
Van de Kuyt saids he hopes the reward will lead to action.
"We live out in the country and we don't expect things like this to happen," he said.
"We have a lot of kids in the house. Some of them could have been playing outside when those dogs came."
