A man is still recovering at a Laredo hospital after being mauled by a dog.  It happened Sunday morning in the 500 block of Teakwood Lane, on the city's east side.

Police say the 24-year old man was attacked by a neighbor's loose dog, which is described as a BOXER MIX.
Officers tried to free the man, but when they couldn't, officers used deadly force.
Neighbors say the dog belongs to a Webb County sheriff's deputy.
The victim has serious injuries to his face, neck and arms. The officer also had minor cuts on both hands.
Animal control cited the dog's owner. Police say the dog had not been registered, wasn't micro-chipped and they could not verify if it had been vaccinated for rabies.
The District Attorney's Office has requested an investigation into this attack for possible criminal negligence.

When you've lost the sheriff's deputy to the shit bulls.... I don't even know what to say, you'd think a law enforcement officer would have a clue, so many of them are called out to save someone from a rampaging pit. This guy has no business owning a "boxer-mix" OR being in law enforcement.
