BROOKLYN NY - A MAN TRIED TO COVER UP PIT FIGHTING BY TELLING A VET HIS PIT DIED BECAUSE IT WAS MAULED BY A RACCOON

A Brooklyn man tried to cover up his dogfighting ring by telling a veterinarian his dead pooch was mauled to death by a raccoon, officials said Tuesday.
Robert Haro, 48, brought the deceased 11-month-old pit bull to the Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital in Brooklyn to get the animal cremated, police said.
A necropsy determined the dog was attacked by another canine, cops said.
Members of the NYPD’s animal cruelty investigation squad raided a Prospect Place home near Vanderbilt Ave. in Prospect Heights about 7 a.m. on Monday, arresting Haro and Sean Richardson, 53.
Cops found three guns, a mutilated pit bull and equipment used for dogfighting, including collars, chains and a treadmill designed to force dogs to continually run, officials said.
Police charged Haro and Richardson with animal cruelty and weapons possession.

This pit bull must have been special to this nutter. Probably won several dog fights. It's too bad the pit bull didn't survive. It could have gone on to become the world's best nanny dog.

The ironic thing is is that if the guy would have just told the truth and said some unleashed pit bull killed his dog, he probably wouldn't have been suspected of dog-fighting.
