HARTFORD CT - 2 "NEWLY ACQUIRED" PIT BULLS WERE AT BUSHNELL PARK OFF LEASH AND PLAYING IN A POND WITH THEIR "RESPONSIBLE OWNER" WHEN THEY SAW SOMETHING THEY COULD TRY AND KILL...A 10-YEAR-OLD LABRADOODLE

""
TWO PIT BULLS attacked a Labradoodle at Bushnell Park in Hartford on Wednesday evening, according to a police report.  The attack happened near the carousel around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when a dog walker, Kate Molloy, was walking Ace, a 10-year-old Labradoodle, on a leash.

The police report says two pit bulls were nearby with their owner, playing in the pond, when the dogs suddenly attacked Ace.  Molloy described what happened in a statement.

“To see Ace pinned down by two pit bulls was extremely scary and it was even worse listening to him as he was crying in pain. It was just a very scary situation and I could see blood by his face, on his back, under his jowls and the dogs just kept pulling,” Molloy writes.

Ace was taken to a vet to be treated for injuries to his left ear, neck and back. The police report says the owner of the pit bulls just got the dogs, which are about 2 years old, and didn’t have paperwork for them. The two pit bulls were released to their owner, who was issued a ticket and $606 fine for allowing his dogs to roam, a rabies vaccination violation and for being unlicensed.

Hartford requires all dogs that are six months or older to be licensed and they cannot run at large without a proper leash or chain.Ace’s owner said the dog is doing well and has left the vet's office.

It really makes me sick when these dogs are handed back to their owner as if nothing happened.

If they're not going to euthanize the dogs, the least they should do is take the dogs from the owner and ban them from owning dogs/owning any dog over 10 pounds.

They've already proven they are incapable of handling large predatory animals, unable to do something as simple as keep a leash on their dogs, so why give them another chance to mess up? Next time another dog or human could be killed.

At the end of the video, the woman walking with a dog off leash, was with a man who had a pit bull on a leash. There is no point putting her "baby" on a leash if they're hanging with a mauler.

You seriously cannot walk anywhere these days without encountering a pit bull. It is typical that a nutter adopts pit bulls that are at the magical mauling age, and expects to take them out in public without proper licensing, papers, leashes, or training. I really have to wonder what nutters expect of pit bulls? I've had my dog for 2 1/2 years, and I don't trust her off leash. It has nothing to do with training. My dog is part Husky, and Huskies should never be off leash. Unless of course you want a disaster.

OH! I think I just answered my own question!
