A 15-month-old was hospitalized Saturday afternoon after a dog bit the child's face, according to police.

A Miami Police spokesperson said the girl went to feed the neighbor's dog, something the toddler often did, when the dog attacked her.  The toddler was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The child is in stable condition.

The owner said the dog was taken away by animal services. The dog is a Pitbull Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix, according to the owner.

Is there no longer a pit bull ban in Miami-Dade county? Or are authorities just ignoring it?

From what I can tell, there is still a ban on pit bulls, but the good ole lobbyists are trying to get that "unfair" ban removed.

Isn't it remarkable that a pit bull would attack a harmless 15 month old while being fed? I mean, I thought pit bulls were nanny dogs? I'm pretty sure the owner and the parent of the child, were trying to show the gentle nature of this particular pit bull, and to dispel all of the myths that pit bulls are dangerous animals.

I'm so glad that we have endearing stories such as this, that prove pit bulls are unfairly banned from communities to keep all of the citizens and pets safe. I'm also upset to learn that if these people had only followed the law, this child would not be in the hospital. But hey, nutters know better than the rest of us, and think it's unfair that pit bulls are not allowed to destroy little baby's faces. Because "breed profiling" is akin to racial profiling, and we just can't have all pit bulls targeted when irresponsible owners are to blame.

KEEP THE BAN MIAMI
