A Heyburn homeowner was issued a misdemeanor citation for having a vicious dog at large after the PIT BULL  mauled a lawn-care worker on Tuesday.
Miguel Moreno Sanchez, 41, is set to be arraigned on the charge at 8:30 a.m. May 25 in Minidoka County magistrate court.
The woman went to the Sanchez’s home, 388 W. 450 S., to spray the lawn with chemicals.
Minidoka County Sheriff deputies said the dog is owned by a 17-year-old male.
An off-duty officer who responded to the Heyburn business where the woman went after the attack, said when he went inside the building he saw the 54-year-old woman covered in blood sitting in a chair.
The woman had puncture and tear wounds to her face, forearm, hand, back, left leg above the back of her knee along with her right thigh.  She said she went to the residence Saturday and spoke with children who were home at the time, she told police. She also encountered the dog and pet it with no problem.
When she went back to the home Tuesday shortly before noon and knocked on the door, no one answered. Again, she pet the dog with no issue, but when she turned her back to the animal and walked away, it attacked her, police said.
Animal control requested assistance from the sheriff’s office to capture the dog, which was placed in quarantine.
When they arrived at the home they found the dog lying just inside an open garage door. There was blood on the dog’s face and the front of its body.
Officers also found blood in the rock driveway and on the pavement in front of the house.

So, was the pit bull protecting its property, or was it just having a little fun?
