BRIDGEPORT — Two children suffered unspecified injuries after being bit by a dog Wednesday afternoon.
Police responded to a house in the 200 block of Pearl Harbor Street around 5:40 p.m. after receiving a call that a small child was attacked by a PIT BULL, city spokeswoman Rowena White said.
Initial reports indicated the child was unresponsive, White said. But upon arrival, officers confirmed the child was alert and responsive. An officer on scene said the dog belonged to a family member, dispatch reports indicated.  Shortly after the first child was brought to a local hospital for treatment, it was found that a second child had been bit as well, White said.
Fire personnel responded to the scene later in the evening to clean the area, dispatch reports indicated.
White said police and AMR are investigating the situation.
The extent of the injuries the children suffered was not immediately available.
In situations such as this one, animal control is alerted to the incident and conduct an investigation.

Animal control is alerted to the incident so they may obfuscate the breed of dog, do a temperament test, send the nanny dog to a rescue, and drop all charges.
