SANDWICH MA - A PIT BULL BROKE OFF ITS LEASH AND ATTACKED ANOTHER DOG...WHEN A WOMAN INTERVENED THE PIT TURNED ON HER CAUSING SEVERE CUTS TO HER FACE AND BOTH ARMS

A 62-year-old woman was hospitalized with severe lacerations after being attacked by a PIT BULL on Tuesday.

The dog assailed the woman at 6 Deepwood Drive at 5:43 p.m., according to an announcement from the Sandwich police. The dog had broken off of its leash and went after another dog.

When the victim intervened, the pit bull turned on her. Eventually the dog owner gained control of the pit bull, police stated. The victim was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for severe cuts on her face and both arms, according to police.
The Sandwich animal control officer is investigating the incident.
