ORANGE COUNTY FL - MOM'S BOYFRIEND'S PIT BULL ATTACKED HER 4-YEAR-OLD SON AS HE SLEPT IN HIS BED
(WOFL FOX 35) - Late Wednesday afternoon, Orange County Animal Services said they were waiting for the owner of the PIT BULL who attacked a four-year-old boy while he slept, to turn the animal in for quarantine.
"We have no information that the child did anything to provoke that dog," said Orange County Sheriffs Office spokesperson Jeff Williamson.
Investigators say the pit bull went after the child here at Golf View apartments where the little boy lives with his mom. According to deputies, the mom's boyfriend brought his pit bull over when he came for a visit. OCSO says the mom and boyfriend were hanging out in the living room while the little boy slept in his room early Wednesday morning.
"At some point, the dog wandered into the bedroom of the child and the child emerged with multiple injuries to his face, cheek and behind the ear," said Williamson.
Deputies say the mom rushed the little boy to the hospital. OCSO responded to the residence and left a notice saying the dog needs to be quarantined for 10 days, with an option to euthanize it with the owners consent.
Investigators are puzzled as to why this dog attacked the little boy.
"The child was familiar with the dog, so why at this particular point in time there would be this kind of situation or issue we do not know. We have no information that the child did anything to provoke that dog," said Williamson.
Animal Services says they gave the dog's owner 24 hours to turn over the animal.
