LANE COVE NSW AU - AN AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE TERRIER ESCAPED FROM THE BACK OF A CAR AND IN SECONDS BIT THE HEAD OFF OF "MONTE" A BELOVED CAVOODLE THAT WAS BEING WALKED BY AN ELDERLY OWNER ON A LEASH

Cavoodle, Monte, was killed after another dog escaped form a car a tore his head off

A killer dog escaped from the back of a car and brutally killed a Cavoodle by tearing his head off as its elderly owner scrambled on the ground trying in vein to save it.

The unrestrained hound, which was an AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE TERRIER, escaped through an open door of a vehicle parked at the Figtree Plaza Shopping Centre in Lane Cove.  Guy Carroll, 73, had been walking his six-year-old Cavoodle, Monte, on a leash when the Staffy attacked his pet without warning, the Daily Telegraph reported.  It was all over in a second or two.

THE CAVOODLE WAS DECAPITATED AND DIED INSTANTLY.

"It was all over in a second or two.   A woman opened the rear door of a grey station wagon and the Staffy jumped out and went straight for the throat.  That was the end of Monte,' said Mr. Carroll.  "This thing did not hesitate, walk around, growl or sniff.  It just tore his throat out.  I tried to grab it by the collar but I fell over.  I'd have to say I was in shock."
Lane Cove residents rallied against the couple and one even started a Gofundme to set up a plaque in Monte's name

The owners of the Staffy managed to get the dog back in the car but drove off  before police arrived.  Staff from a local Cafe tried to help, bundling him up and rushing him to the vet, but it was too late.  Within hours of the attack the community was quickly raising money for a plaque dedicated to Monte.  Resident Jacky Barker, set up a Gofundme which has so far raised $2,000 of its $800 goal.

'Monte's owner, Judy Carroll said, "Monte was my little impulse buy when I went out for coffee and bought home the most beautiful puppy ever", the Gofundme reads.

'Paying tribute to her beloved dog, Judy added 'Monte was a typical Cavoodle.  He loved being walked, running in the park, chasing birds, his people and anyone else who paid him attention and, of course, treats".'   She says the extra money will go towards a charity chosen by the couple.  When asked by Daily Mail Australia what the council was doing about the incident, Lane Cove Mayor Pam Plamer said they had been in contact with the owners.

'The owner has been located and Council has been in touch.  Although the owner does not live in our local area, Council has commenced the process of having the dog declared a Dangerous Dog following the serious nature of this incident,' she said.  'They will be responsible for the next steps of monitoring and enforcing the strict conditions that come from the process of a dog being declared a Dangerous Dog.'

Guy and his wife, Judy, will have since been gifted two other dogs.  A rescue Jack Russel called Cooper and a Cavoodle named Jacky, after the resident who helped raised them money.

None of this brings back Monte. All of this could have been prevented by banning pit bulls.

How do you ever come back from your dog being decapitated? Slapping a "dangerous dog" label on a pit bull this violent is ridiculous! Euthanize the damn thing BEFORE it kills again! Don't wait for the irresponsible, dine and dash, heartless, pit bull owners to do the right thing!

My only hope is that the owners get a Darwin Award.
