NORTHPORT AL - THE POLICE DEPT'S ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER WAS ATTACKED BY A DOG ON FRIDAY AND REMAINED HOSPITALIZED ON TUESDAY

The Northport Police Department’s animal control officer was hospitalized Friday after being bitten by a dog, and he remained in the hospital Tuesday morning.
Assistant Chief Keith Carpenter said the officer responded to a call of two dogs running at large in the 2800 block of 22nd Avenue and was bitten by one of them after he arrived.
The officer was taken to the emergency room at DCH Regional Medical Center Friday, and Carpenter said he remained hospitalized Tuesday morning.
The canine responsible was captured and placed in quarantine at a local veterinarian’s office for observation for signs of rabies.

Really? A grown man remains in hospital after being "bitten"?

Who wants to guess it was a pit bull? It put someone in the hospital, it was loose, it attacked, and should we go ahead and blame the victim?
