(KVII) — A Pampa child has been hospitalized after being attacked by the family dog.
According to authorities, the Pampa Police Department, along with Pampa EMS and Pampa Fire Department were dispatched to the 300 block of S. Canadian on Tuesday at about 5:40 p.m. for a child that had been attacked by a dog. The child was stabilized and eventually transported by air to Oklahoma City for treatment.
It is believed the animal in question is a family pet of the victim's family. The animal is now in custody of Pampa Animal Services.
Pampa PD and Animal Services are investigating the circumstances leading up to the attack.
As many of you may know Sonia (4yr old)was attacked by the family dog on Tuesday 5/15/2018. She was flown to OSU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. She has undergone several surgeries so far and has many more to come. She has a long road to recovery and the family is not able to cover the medical, travel, and other needs as Sonia recovers. Any amount of donations is very appreciated as well as thought so and prayers.
As some may or may not know, Sonia my niece was attacked by their family dog on 5/16/18 in pampa! She was air lifted to Oklahoma City where she is stable but sedated. The first night she was there she had a 91/2 hour surgery to stitch her face, neck, and eyes. She has one today 5/17/18 to reconstruct To her tear ducts! But before surgery they have lowered the sedation and she is still unable to talk because of the tube but she is answering yes or no questions by shaking her head. She is moving her arms and legs and is even trying to sit up. She still can not open her eyes cause of the swelling and there is a chance she won’t be able to see again but that is going to be a few weeks before we know anything. She will prob have some nerve damage on her lips and cheek. But what matters right now is she’s alive and is getting prayers!! We are very thankful for the police and emt and firefighters that came and took care of Sonia! I will post updates to this page as I know it. Also a go fund me is being made and a shirt raiser is being started.

It's too bad pit bulls don't come with price tags; the cost is too great. Nutters don't want to think about the consequences of bringing home a dangerous dog breed but they should!
Your irreplaceable child, either severely injured or killed by a pit bull is too great of a risk. If you don't have adequate insurance, or the means to pay for multiple surgeries, or funerals, perhaps you shouldn't bring home a mauler?
I know it's too late now for this little girl but come on parents! LEARN FROM THIS EXAMPLE AND PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN FROM PIT BULLS!
And, still, they're so vested in protecting the pit myth that they won't name the type of dog. Just the omission alone tells us what kind of dog it was. Any other breed and that would be the first thing they'd tell you. It's become an admission of guilt to 'fess up that it's a pit bull. Because they know how dangerous they are and how stupid it is to keep one around a child.
