SPRING HILL, HERNANDO COUNTY FL - A FAMILY ADOPTED "A DOG" FROM THE HERNANDO COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO AND TODAY IT MAULED THEIR 16-MONTH OLD TODDLER ON THE HEAD SENDING HER TO A TRAUMA CENTER

(WFLA) - A toddler in Spring Hill suffered traumatic injuries on Monday after being bitten in the head by a dog.
Deputies in Hernando County say the 16-month-old was playing with the family dog around 2 p.m. when it happened. The child's mother was supervising them at the time.
Deputies and firefighters responded to the scene and treated the child, who was then taken to a trauma center for advanced care.
According to the sheriff's office, the family adopted the dog about two months ago from Hernando County Animal Services.
The owner says the dog has not shown any signs of aggression before. They also told deputies it didn't seem that the dog maliciously attacked the child, but appeared to be playing.
The incident is still being investigated and DCF has been contacted.
The dog is now in quarantine.

You know, I was wondering if the video was as vague about the type of dog as the article was. Yes it was vague.

I don't need to see a picture to prove it was a pit bull that did this.

It seems more and more news organizations are leaving out the details of breeds of dogs doing the maulings. Why would they protect a particular breed/type?
