The Wareham Department of Natural Resources has located the owners of two dogs that attacked a woman unprovoked, and the animals will be quarantined for 10 days.
The victim, who is not being identified, was walking near the Papermill Cranberry Bogs in West Wareham on May 7 when two loose dogs bit the victim’s leg and arm. After, the owner took control of the dogs and left the area without speaking with the victim.
The victim was treated at Tobey Hospital and released. The victim underwent rabies treatment as a precaution because the dogs hadn't been located yet.
Following an investigation by the Department of Natural Resources with help from the public, the owners, Laura and Paul Geigle of West Wareham, were located. Both dogs are licensed and current with their vaccines.
Per state policy, the dogs will be kept under in-house quarantine for 10 days. In addition to the mandatory quarantine, the owners were issued a leash law violation and officials asked them to take measures to better secure the animals.
