A baby boy, aged two, is recuperating from wounds he suffered when a PIT BULL DOG attacked him as he reached his house at #168 Raccoon Street Extension in Belize City on Saturday night.
The baby and his mother, Briana Kelly, had just arrived at their yard around 7:00 that night and upon entering the yard and closing the gate, the dog attacked the child, mauling him on his face, hands and upper body.
Police told the media that the dog was one of several that were in the yard at the time, but that only the pitbull attacked the toddler. The dog, who belonged to another relative who lived in the same yard, has reportedly been put to death.
In situations like these police say that because the incident occurred in an enclosure and involved a dog belonging to a relative of the victim, the only thing they can do is try to assist the relevant parties to settle their differences over the incident.
