FARGO ND - A PIT BULL "SOMEHOW' GOT LOOSE AND ENTERED SOMEONE ELSE'S APARTMENT AND ATTACKED A CHIHUAHUA AND WENT AFTER A MAN ...NUTTER HAS HIS PANTIES IN A WAD BECAUSE THE MAN DEFENDED HIMSELF AND HIS PROPERTY WITH A KNIFE!!!
No charges are expected to be filed in a dog fight-turned-stabbing. WDAY first told you about this story Tuesday. Cotton the chihuahua had a frightening week. His owner tells WDAY he was attacked by a PIT BULL that got into their apartment. When he started barking at the door, they checked the peephole, opened it a crack and then the neighbor's pit bull rushed in. "The dog latched onto his neck, started shaking him, wouldn't let go. My only thought was to get him off. How? Then I grabbed the knife. It was just my instincts to protect my dog and my kids," said Cotton's owner, who didn't want to be named.
The pit bull has since died from the several stab wounds.Cotton ended up at the vet, as well, and is now on several medications. His owner tells WDAY this wasn't the first incident between the two dogs. He describes another incident of the pit bull attacking the chihuahua, but nothing to this extent. He says that incident ended civilly and hopes even after this that things will stay that way.
"We do have to live here, and I don't want any confrontation," the owner said.
With concerns his six kids and other neighbors shouldn't have had to witness the gruesome attack on Cotton, he wants someone to be held accountable.
"That way my dog can get the justice he deserves. He was in his own home, wasn't bothering anybody. That shouldn't happen," he said.
He adds they didn't want things to end the way they did.
"It's sad for him to see his dog like that, but it's also sad for my kids to see their dog in the pain and agony he was in," said Cotton's owner.
Even though one dog is dead, and another hurt, Fargo Police say Cotton's owner won't be held criminally responsible for killing the dog.
WDAY did reach out to the pit bull's owner but haven't been able to get a hold of them.
Even though no charges were filed against anyone, Cotton's owner tells me he plans to challenge that decision, because the pit bull was running loose in the apartment.
