An elderly woman mauled early Friday morning by dogs was recuperating on Monday at a hospital in Thomasville.
Moultrie police were dispatched at 2:58 a.m. to the 700 block of Ninth Avenue  Southeast to respond to a dog attack.
When police arrived Colquitt County paramedics were at the scene treating Mary Davis.
The attack involved more than one dog, Moultrie Police Department Lt. Freddie Williams said.
Davis was walking down the street at the time she was attacked, Williams said.
The dogs were taken into custody by the Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society, he said.
Williams said police were not releasing the breed of the dogs that were rounded up at this time.
“She was mauled by a few dogs,” he said.
Davis’ wounds included bites to the face, police said.
The case remains under investigation.
Davis was listed in fair condition on Monday afternoon at Archbold Memorial Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.
