TODD MISSION, GRIMES COUNTY TX - A WOMAN IS IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER BEING MAULED BY AT LEAST ONE DOG FROM A GROUP OF FOUR DOGS - LIFE-FLIGHTED TO A HOSPITAL IN BRYAN

A woman has been hospitalized in critical condition after authorities said she was attacked by dogs on a rural Todd Mission property.
According to law enforcement officials with the Department of Public Safety and the Grimes County Sheriff's Office, a person called 911 around 3 p.m. Tuesday to report screams coming from a neighbor's residence on Millcreek Road just outside Todd Mission city limits. Authorities said on the porch of the home, a woman was under attack by at least ONE DOG FROM A GROUP OF FOUR.
A state trooper arrived, and as he stepped onto the porch, a medium- to large-sized dog emerged from behind a refrigerator. The dog lunged aggressively at the trooper, said DPS spokesman Sgt. Jimmy Morgan. The trooper shot the dog with his service weapon, killing the animal. The three remaining dogs reportedly did not attempt to attack the trooper.
First responders struggled to move the woman off the property because of muddy roads in the wooded area. All-terrain vehicles were employed to transport the victim to a space where a helicopter could land. The woman was then life-flighted to CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. She suffered severe blood loss and is in critical condition, Morgan said.
