(WTOK) - A man was seriously injured after he was attacked by dogs in southeastern Lauderdale County.
Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun with the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department said the attack happened Wednesday afternoon on Old Highway 19 SE near Southeast Middle School and the traffic light.
A driver noticed a bike rider who was laying in the road. The man appeared to have several injuries caused by the dogs.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, then transported to a hospital in Jackson.
Calhoun said animal control has found the dogs responsible for the attack. Authorities are trying to find out if the dogs belonged to someone, or if they were strays.
