The victim killed in a dog attack has been identified by the Grenada County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff Alton Strider identified the victim as Diane Reves, 70, who was discovered Thursday in the 1600 block of Carpenter Road in North Grenada County.
According to the sheriff’s department, Reves’ body was discovered Thursday afternoon by a neighbor. The sheriff’s department responded to the call at 3:30 p.m.
“We’re talking about several hundred dog bites here,” Investigator Josh Dale said. “So far during the investigation, we believe that the attack happened sometimes Wednesday.”
According to deputies, a total of SEVEN DOGS OF MIXED BREEDS were seized.
“We believe that we have all of the dogs involved,” Dale said. “We are having them all tested to get a better look at their involvement in the attack.”
The sheriff’s department said with the investigation in its early stages, they cannot say who owns of the dogs.
Reves, a mother and a grandmother, worked as a nurse for many years in Grenada. A friend said she was very active at Friendship Baptist Church where she worked with the homebound ministry. She also worked with the ministry at the Grenada County Jail.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
