ROBESON COUNTY NC - A FAMILY FRIEND'S DOBERMAN MAULED A 1-YEAR-OLD BOY ..."WHEN IT WAS LET OUT OF THE OWNER'S REACH TO STRETCH AND BEGAN PLAYING WITH THE CHILD" ...AND WITH MANY ADULTS/PARENTS AROUND!

A Robeson County child was airlifted to hospital after being mauled by a dog.

A 1-year-old child had to be airlifted to the hospital Monday afternoon after he was mauled by a dog at a home on Ambay Road near Pembroke, according to officials with Pembroke Rescue and EMS.
Officials said the child had extensive injuries, though the child's condition hasn't been released.
The boy was outside with family members when he was attacked. The Sheriff's Office says the K-9, a male DOBERMAN, belonged to a family friend and was let out of the owner's reach to stretch and began playing with the child. That's when the mauling began, authorities say; the infant's father was able to separate the dog and child."
The K-9 is a male Doberman Pinscher that was still intact and had updated veterinarian records," the Sheriff's Office says. "The owner of K-9 reported that he had never experienced any aggressive behavior with the K-9."
The dog is being quarantined at the Robeson County Animal Shelter.
The Robeson County Sheriff's Office Juvenile Divison is investigating.
