GILLETTE, CAMPBELL COUNTY WY - A PIT BULL/ROTTWEILER MIX MAULED A 9-YEAR-OLD BOY ...BROKEN ARM WITH SEVERE MUSCLE AND NERVE DAMAGE


UPDATE:  PIT BULL/ROTTWEILER MIX 

(AP) — A Wyoming boy remains hospitalized several days after a dog attacked him.
The  PIT BULL-ROTTWEILER MIX  attacked 9-year-old Riley Schlidt near his home in Gillette on Friday. Sheriff's officials say the boy had gone up to pet the dog when it bit him on the arm.
A girl separated the dog from the boy but the dog bit his arm again.
The Gillette News-Record reports the boy's arm was broken in two places and he suffered severe muscle and nerve damage.
He was flown to a Denver hospital for treatment and underwent two surgeries to try to save his arm.
The dog was euthanized.

A 9-year-old Gillette boy remains hospitalized in Denver after being attacked by a dog Friday afternoon in Nickelson Little Farms.
According to Campbell County Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds, the boy was riding a four-wheeler on Thomas Jefferson Road around 2:45 p.m. Friday, May 24, when he was severely bitten by a MIXED BREED DOG.
The boy was flown to Denver for medical treatment.
The dog did not belong to the boy’s family and is currently being quarantined, as per CCSO policy.
According to a GoFundMe page set up for the family, the boy’s arm was broken in two places and he suffered severe muscle and nerve damage. An update Monday stated he was recovering from his second surgery and another one was planned for later in the week.
Reynolds said no additional details are available at this time since the incident is still under investigation.

When are we going to get smart about dangerous dog breeds? How many children have to suffer?
