HAZLETON PA - A MAN WAS WATCHING "A DOG" FOR ANOTHER PERSON WHEN THE MEAT GRINDER CHOMPED ON HIS 15-MONTH-OLD CHILD'S HEAD AND FACE -THE BABY WAS TAKEN TO A TRAUMA CENTER AND THE MAN SHOT AND KILLED "THE DOG"

Hazleton City Police have reported that "A DOG" injured a toddler on Saturday.
Around 4 p.m., police responded to the 300 block of West Spruce Street for reports of a dog that bit the face of a 15-month-old child.
Based on the injuries sustained, the child was removed to an area trauma center by Emergency Medical Services.
According to police, the child's father was watching the dog for an unknown party and the dog bit the child.
The father allegedly shot the dog, which is now deceased.
According to Police Chief Jerry Speziale, no charges have been filed at this time.
"We are praying for the safe recovery of the child at this time," said Speziale. He also said that while the wounds were serious for a child that age and probably would require surgery, he said he was led to believe the injuries are not life threatening.
The deceased dog has been preserved for testing at the West Hazleton Veterinary Hospital, according to Speziale.
The investigation is still active.
