A 2-year-old boy in the village of Prescott was airlifted to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids after being mauled by two of his family’s dogs July 5.
Ogemaw County Sheriff’s Lt. Doug Casselman said the child was home with a family member while his parents were at work when the family member heard a commotion. When checking on the child the family member reportedly found the family’s  TWO GERMAN SHEPHERDS  had attacked the child.
Casselman said due to the child’s life-threatening condition, LifeNet was called in to transport him.
The incident is under investigation, but Casselman said there doesn’t appear to be any criminal wrongdoing and that it was a “horrific accident.”
The dogs are currently quarantined by the family as it works with Ogemaw County Animal Control to determine their fate. Casselman said also assisting on scene were Ogemaw County EMS and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
