(WTVD) -- A 19-month old boy is fighting for his life at UNC in Chapel Hill after being attacked by his GRANDMOTHER'S PIT BULL  on Wednesday night.

According to Cumberland County officials, deputies arrived at the scene around 8:44 p.m. near Plantation Road and Stubbs Street.

ABC11 reached out to the grandmother, Rachel McDuffie, who spoke to us about the entire ordeal.

McDuffie says she was in the backyard with her grandson, Dominic Chance, around 8:30 p.m.

Moments later, she went back inside the house for a couple of minutes, before walking back outside to find her grandson pinned to the ground and wrapped in her seven year old pit bull's chain.

McDuffie rushed over to attempt to separate the two and stop the dog from biting Chase's neck.

A nearby neighbor rushed to help McDuffie get Chance away from the dog.

EMS arrived and rushed Chance to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with bites on his face and neck.

He was later airlifted to UNC in Chapel Hill with life-threatening injuries.

McDuffie, on the other hand, suffered bite marks on her right forearm but chose to not go to the hospital because she was more concerned about Chance.

The Fayetteville grandmother decided to surrender her dog to the county to be euthanized.

McDuffie adds that Chance's condition is improving and she hopes to see him back in Fayetteville by Monday.

GRANITE BAY, PLACER COUNTY CA - A 6-YEAR-OLD FEMALE PIT BULL DESCRIBED AS A FAMILY PET FATALLY MAULED A 13-MONTH-OLD BOY IN AN UNPROVOKED ATTACK IN THE LIVING ROOM

A baby boy barely more than a year old is dead after a dog mauling in Granite Bay, Placer County deputies said.

The 13-month-old baby boy was attacked and mauled by a  PIT BULL  in a living room. Lt. Andrew Scott, spokesperson the sheriff's office, said the baby was near a female relative at the time, who was able to rescue the child from the dog.

However, the baby would eventually pass away at Sutter Roseville Medical Center.  Lt. Scott confirmed that the adult relative near the baby during the incident was not one of the parents.

Lt. Scott described the pit bull as a 6-year-old female that was a family pet. It's currently not known how long the family has had the dog.
According to Lt. Scott, the situation doesn't appear to have been a provoked attack.

"I don’t know that demonizing the breed is the correct response. Anytime you have a dog in a household with a small child – whether it’s a big dog or a small dog – it’s always a good idea to an eye on the children in a house…” said Lt. Scott.

The dog is now in the hands of animal control, and what happens to her next will be decided by animal control and the courts.
According to Lt. Scott, there's nothing in the investigation to indicate negligence.

"It’s just a very, very sad and unfortunate circumstances, so the investigation will continue," he said. "We’re going to have a lot of questions to ask, a lot of things to look into, but at this point, it does appear to be an unprovoked dog attack and there’s no negligence on the part of anyone involved.”

QUINCY MA - SIRIMAKORN KHANTAK WAS OUT FOR A WALK WHEN SHE SAW A MAN WITH A VERY LARGE UNLEASHED DOG ...SHE FOUND HERSELF IN THE FIGHT OF HER LIFE WITH A CANE CORSO AS THE MAN SITS DOWN ON STEPS AND WATCHES!

(WHDH) - A woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after police say she suffered “several bites” from a dog that attacked her in Quincy on Monday.

Officers responding to a reported dog attack in the area of Elmwood Avenue and Norfolk Street found a woman bleeding, according to the Quincy Police Department.
Sirimakorn Khantak was out for a walk in her Quincy neighborhood when she came across a man with an unleashed dog.
“The dog just ran over to me and jumped on me and I just fell,” Khantak recalled. “I remember that he bit my arm and I yelled so loud to help.”
She said she was able to make it to a nearby front porch and climb on top of it in an attempt to escape the dog.

“Oh, thank god I [was] still like capable and conscious to stand up.” She said she remembered thinking, “If I don’t do something this guy is not going to come and grab the dog.”
In a still from the scene, the man with the dog can be seen sitting down on the steps of the porch while Khantak works to fend it off.
“For a minute, he was sitting on the stairs,” Khantak said. “I am so upset, scared, disappointed.”
Neighbors who heard her cries for help came running to the rescue.
One man called 911 while his girlfriend started recording on her cellphone.
Eventually, the dog gave up and ran to another yard.
“So, I jumped down, I fell and then I [stood] up and I just [ran] to the house.”
Khantak was taken to Quincy Medical Center with several puncture wounds in her arm and open wounds on her back. Her injuries were not considered to be life-threatening and she was discharged to recover at home.
The man who was with the dog when officers arrived at the scene said he was dogsitting the 2-year-old   CANE CORSO  when it attacked the woman, police said.
Police say they have since viewed a “disturbing” video of the attack and filed a report.
The incident will be followed up with by Animal Control and a hearing will take place.
A hearing is set for Tuesday to determine what, if any charges the man may face.

“The only way to save him was to amputate his leg,” Paula Helms said. “We transferred him to a surgery center.”
Tobie was outside using the bathroom when two dogs attacked him.
The family shared their surveillance camera footage with News Center 7 where the whole attack was caught on video.
“He had so much trauma to his body, so much bacteria from the dog bites,” Helms said.

The family was able to bring the dog home last night and Tobie has a follow up visit with the veterinarian in a couple of days.

VICTORVILLE CA - A PIT BULL BEING WALKED ON A "LOOSE LEASH" AT CENTER STREET PARK SUDDENLY WITHOUT PROVOCATION CHARGED AT A MAN SITTING UNDER A TREE AND TORE INTO HIS RIGHT ARM!

AMR paramedics and Victorville City Fire treated the male before transporting him to a local hospital. (Hugo C. Valdez, Victor Valley News)
(VVNG.com) — Animal control officers are searching for a vicious dog that attacked a man at Center Street Park Thursday afternoon.
It happened just before 2:00 pm on August 29, 2019, in the 15400 block of Center Street Drive in Victorville.
The victim and a friend were relaxing under some shade trees at the park when the attack happened.
According to witnesses, the dog was being walked by its owner and was on a loose leash when the dog charged at the victim and tore through his right arm.
Paramedics bandaged the man’s arm at the scene before he was transported by AMR ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
A woman sitting nearby said the dog is well known in the area and often growls and charges at people. “That’s not the first time someone’s been attacked by that dog,” she said. “I love dogs but I wish the owner would realize how dangerous this is and just give him up,” stated the woman.
Animal control officers responded to the scene and searched the area for the dog. Officers said because of the nature of the incident they have no choice but to take the dog once they find it.
The dog was described as a  BLACK PIT BULL  with short shiny fur and a patch of white on its chest.

WARWICK RI - PIT BULL DRAMA: 3 PITS "SOMEHOW" GOT LOOSE AND ENTERED A CVS ...SURVEILLANCE SHOWS ONE JUMPED UP ON AN EMPLOYEE NIPPING AT HER SIDE ...POLICE LATER SHOT AND KILLED 2 OF THEM ROAMING ...RECORDS SHOW THAT UP TO 12 CALLS HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY MADE ABOUT THE SAME DOGS

Short Surveillance Video

(WPRI) — Posted: The dogs that were shot and killed by a Warwick officer earlier this month were known to the police department, Eyewitness News has learned.
On Aug. 15, the Warwick Police Department received a report that three loose dogs entered the CVS on Buttonwoods Avenue. One of those dogs ended up attacking an employee, according to police.
In surveillance video released by the Warwick Police Department, two of the dogs can be seen jumping on the woman several times before running away.
The police report describing the incident reads, “The tan dog with the white spot lunged up at her and you can see the mouth of the dog close on her right hip area and shirt on her right side.”
According to a police report obtained by Eyewitness News, the woman showed the responding officers two red marks on her that appeared to be bruising. The woman refused medical treatment since the dogs did not break the skin when they jumped on her.
A few blocks away, Officer Jeremy Smith and an animal control officer found the three pit bulls roaming around on Keeley Avenue.
The police report said two of the dogs charged at Smith while the animal control officer was grabbing tools inside his vehicle.
Smith, already having previous knowledge that the dogs may have attacked someone, reported that he feared for his safety.
“The intensity of the situation heightened and began to rapidly evolve,” he wrote in the police report. “I was in fear for my safety as the dog pursued me.”
The police report goes on to detail the moments when Smith decided to shoot and kill two of the dogs, who ultimately charged at him in an aggressive manner. The third dog was scared off by the gunshots.
This is not the first time police have received complaints about the dogs roaming the neighborhood and acting aggressively towards residents and other dogs.
The police report details at least five phone calls between March 1, 2018 and June 16, 2019 regarding the same dogs running loose in the neighborhood and acting aggressively. In addition, the police report lists seven other calls – the oldest dating back to December 2017 – that also may have involved the same dogs.
The dogs were also not up to date on their vaccinations but did test negative for rabies, according to the police report.
The owners of the dogs, Tiffany Fletcher and Andy Lucini, describe them as loving.
“I don’t believe for a second that they did. I don’t think they bit anyone,” Fletcher said.
“Our youngest son is 5 months old, he will sit in his walker and the dogs would walk up to him and start giving him kisses,” Lucini added. “It just doesn’t add up at all.”

Tiffany Fletcher, who owns the dogs, Mia and Peanut, has posted a GoFundme page to raise donations to Handsome Dan’s dog rescue in RI in memory of her dogs

BRIGHTON CO - THE NEIGHBOR HAS 5 DOGS THAT LOOK LIKE MEAT GRINDERS!!! 4 OF THE 5 MONSTERS CAME INTO THE SANCHEZ' HOME THROUGH A DOG DOOR A MONTH AGO ...A NEW FENCE WAS PUT UP ...THAT DIDN'T STOP THEM ...THIS TIME THEY GOT IN THE HOME AND FATALLY MAULED THEIR BELOVED 9-YEAR-OLD CHIHUAHUA "YODA"!

LOOKS LIKE 5 PITS TO ME !!!

The Brighton Police Department is investigating after a family says a neighbor's dog came into their home and killed their dog.

“Yoda" is the Sanchez family’s 9-year-old Chihuahua, who they say was killed inside their home over the weekend.
There is now a chalk message outside of the Sanchez home that says, "Justice for Yoda!"
The Sanchez family says this is the second time in a month that dogs from next door have gotten through or under a fence and made their way into the home using the dog door.
“It’s just a 'Fear Factor' here," said Yoda’s owner, LeRoy Sanchez.
A judge will hear the case on Sept. 24.
For now, the Sanchez family has installed security cameras and has placed a plastic cover over the dog door.

OCEANSIDE CA - A MAN TOOK HIS SMALL TERRIER OUT FOR AN EVENING WALK ... A PIT BULL BELONGING TO A HOMELESS MAN ATTACKED THEM AND TRIED TO KILL HIS DOG!

VIDEO

(KGTV) - An Oceanside man says he and his puppy were mauled by an unleashed dog while out for an evening walk.

On Monday around 11 p.m. near Albertsons on Mission Avenue, Kevin Humphrey was taking his 7-month-old terrier mix Stitch out for his final walk when he saw a homeless man and his brown-and-white PIT BULL, loose.

Humphrey says the owner managed to catch up to the dog and leash him.

Humphrey went on with his walk along the back side of the shopping center, when he says he saw the dog, unleashed again. Humphrey picked his dog up and started running, but didn't get far.

"It just starts biting at me and biting at me. He tries to bite my dog's throat out," said Humphrey.

Humphrey says the dog bit him in the back and arm before latching onto his puppy's throat. His puppy's life on the line, Humphrey jammed his hand into pit bull's jaws.

"I put my hand in the dog's mouth so he wouldn't bite. I'm crying, 'Don't kill my dog! Don't kill my dog!" said Humphrey.

After a tortuous 20 minutes, the dog finally let go. Humphrey raced to get help for his dog and then himself. Stitch suffered more than a dozen bites. For Humphrey, torn tendons and bone fragments in his hand led to two surgeries.

The San Diego Humane Society says the homeless man contends Humphrey went into his tent and provoked his 4-year-old dog, which Humphrey denies.

The pit bull is under a 10-day quarantine. If he's reclaimed, he'll have to wear a muzzle.
