GARVIN COUNTY, Okla. (KXII) - A multiple dog attack left 12-year-old Landon Spruell with deep bite marks on his right leg and arm Tuesday night in Garvin County near Wynnewood.
Landon said he was on his way back from his father’s house at 7:30 p.m. when he took a wrong turn onto County Road when the dogs started chasing him.
The Garvin County Sheriff’s office said THREE IN TOTAL CHASED LANDON AND ARE DESCRIBED AS MIX-BREED.
Landon Tried to jump a fence to get away, but says two of the dogs caught up to him — resulting in deep bites on his leg requiring stitches.
"Two of them were A PIT BULL MIX and the other was a PIT BULL and ROTTWEILER MIX,” said Landon
The dogs’ owner was not home to comment.
Anastasia Spruell, Landon’s mother said she was told by the sheriff’s office that the dogs were surrendered by the owner and taken to a veterinary clinic in Mcalister to be quarantined for 10 days.
"We were told that the dogs have never been vaccinated, have never had any shots,” said Spruell.
Joann Dowing was sitting on her porch when she heard screams and eventually discovered her neighbor's dogs on top of Landon.
Dowing said the dogs are known to chase and aggressively bark at people.
"We don't even allow our grandchildren to come out of the house into the front area at all when the dogs lived there,” said Dowing. "I mean it's a multiple issue, and just a menace to our little area here."
Doctors said Landon may need a rabies shot after the vet in Macalister is finished with the examination.
Garvin County Sheriff Jim Mullett said the dogs’ owner with face charges.
