MELVINDALE, WAYNE COUNTY MI - A PIT BULL CRASHED THROUGH A HOUSE WINDOW AND ATTACKED A WOMAN WALKING HER DOG

A  PIT BULL  in the 2300 block of Corbin Street crashed through a house’s plate glass window about 10:19 a.m. Aug. 28 and bit the hand of a 23-year-old woman who was passing by while walking her dog. The woman was taken to the Beaumont Hospital, Dearborn, for treatment. Her dog was unharmed.
The pit bull led police officers on a chase around the neighborhood before returning to its yard. An animal control officer attempted to tranquilize the dog with a dart, but was unable to hit the target.
About 11:30 a.m. the dog’s owner, a 21-year-old man, arrived on the scene, and helped police officers secure the dog into the back of a patrol car. The dog was then taken to an animal control facility by an ordinance officer.
The dog’s owner declined to provide his name to police officers, and became argumentative. He asked them about the dart he found on the ground, and did not want to surrender it to officers. He was then handcuffed and arrested for interfering with a police investigation. The man was found to have two outstanding warrants out of Dearborn. He was cited for having a vicious dog, having an animal at large and obstructing police officers.
