A young boy was flown Wednesday to a Washington, D.C.-area hospital after two dogs apparently attacked him while he was playing at a Hedgesville-area home, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday.
A family member advised authorities Thursday that the boy, said to be about 5, is expected to be released from the hospital after being bitten on one arm and the chest area in an incident in Cherry Run Village, according to a sheriff’s department news release.
The dogs, believed to be GERMAN SHEPHERDS, were found Thursday night and taken into the custody of Berkeley County Animal Control, the agency posted on its Facebook page.
A preliminary investigation found that the dogs came onto the property where the boy was playing and attacked him, the release said.
The child initially was taken to Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg and then taken to the Washington-area facility.
