Three adults were sent to hospital, two with “severe, life-altering injuries,” following a serious dog attack in Fort Garry early Saturday morning which prompted Winnipeg Police to issue a warning to avoid the area.
At around 12:30 a.m., police were called to a report of a fight occurring in the parking lot of the Capri Motel in the 1800 block of Pembina Highway. Police said it was determined that the incident was not a fight but three people being seriously attacked by vicious dogs.
The dogs attacked and terrorized numerous people in the motel parking lot before crossing Pembina Highway and leaving the area, police said.
“We wish to thank the City of Winnipeg Animal Services Agency for their hard work and dedication in assisting to resolve this situation,” said Carver in an email.
All four dogs appear to be PIT BULL/MASTIFF CROSSES from the same owner ....Police said the investigation has determined that the owner appears to be one of the victims.

“The situation is very chaotic and we’re not exactly sure what we’re looking at yet,” said police spokesperson Const. Rob Carver on Saturday as police and members of the City of Winnipeg Animal Services Agency searched the area for one of the dogs which had been injured after being struck by a vehicle on Pembina.
Thirteen separate police units were required for this incident including two K-9 units and members of the Tactical Support Team. Police said officers were assisted by members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and Animal Services. The Winnipeg Police Duty Office sent out warnings on social media cautioning people travelling in the Fort Garry area to remain in their vehicles.

Three adults from the original call were injured with two males sustaining severe, life-altering injuries. All three were taken to hospital, where the two most serious remain.
“We haven’t been able to interview the two injured people who apparently are connected to the dogs,” said Carver. “We have varying reports from people who were traumatized so the reports aren’t consistent or clear.
“We’re still working out some of those details.”

If the owners were attacked, not sorry! Actually, I think it's rather funny.

I'm all for breed specific legislation. Regulate dangerous dogs. It protects everyone, including idiotic, clueless, stupid, and stubborn owners of dangerous dogs.

It does not protect owners when they don't follow the law. HA! TOO BAD SO SAD!
